SETAC UK was incorporated as a private limited company on 6 December 1989, and is one of several local branches of SETAC within Europe. SETAC is a not-for-profit, global professional organisation comprised of some 6,000 individual members and institutions from academia, business and government. Since 1979, the Society has provided a forum where scientists, managers and other professionals exchange information and ideas on the study, analysis and solution of environmental problems, the management and regulation of natural resources, research and development, and environmental education.

Aim

 

The Society aims to balance membership between government, business, and academia.

1.                 To create a scientific forum for environmental toxicologists and chemists in the U.K.

2.                 Promote multidisciplinary research into environmental problems.

3.                 Encourage the application and development of fundamental research to applied                             problem-solving in the environment.

     

 

MEMBERSHIP

We believe members are our most valuable asset. No matter where you are in your career - a student, recent graduate, educator or seasoned professional - there's a SETAC membership level for you.

 

 

UK COUNCIL

The Council is made up of SETAC members based in the UK from academia, business and government.  Dr Michelle Bloor (University of Portsmouth) is the President of SETAC UK.

 

  

 

The Branch also has a Student Council made up of PhD students from UK research institutions. Katherine Lees (University of Plymouth) is the President of the Student Council  and also sits on the UK Council as the student representative.
